Weekend Ramblings

Weekend Ramblings

1. Yesterday’s communion wafers were in the shapes of Tennessee (Joey’s) and Indiana (Mine). Communion was a great celebration of grace and joy…and we’re thankful for fellowship at church.

2. We saw Heath and Kristen’s phenomenally cute baby Ainsley after the service. She’s even cuter when she’s wiggling and waving her little arms around in front of you than she is in the pictures on their blog, if you can believe it.

3. My plans to sneak up to the Iowa for my brother Andrew’s graduation next weekened were foiled. This means that only Joey gets to go to the land of corn and soybeans (although, what with the big ethanol to-do it’s probably more corn than soybeans anymore) this spring. I am monstrously jealous. (Joey’s heading up for his brother’s graduation the weekend after next…and they’re driving, which means I can’t get there and back again without missing scads of work on Friday.) In any case, I’m stuck here next weekend which I think is lame.

4. We/I placed a moratorium on driving anywhere less than 1.5-2 miles from our house. We picked up some panniers for my bike and, since that time, Thunder and I have been to Target several times, the grocery store (the bags fit perfectly in my panniers!), and anywhere else I’ve needed to go. It takes the same amount of time and it most certainly discourages me from making needless trips if I know I’m going to have to use Jenna-rated power. (I’ll just have to get used to not tipping my bike over when the panniers are fully loaded with groceries. I never actually crashed on Saturday, but there were some close calls…the thing just gets a mind of it’s own when it’s all back-heavy like that.)

5. Yesterday we went on a walk so I could help Joey study for his NT111 final, and near the end of the walk we ran into the tiniest, downiest gaggle of nine ducklings. I chased/followed them into some very long grass where they had the hardest time running away from me, and could have picked one up if I had gloves. But I thought better of it, even though it would have been delicious fun to hold one. Can’t have the mommy rejecting it now, can we?

So…all in all…a good, quick weekend. I’m ready for another one!

About jennawoestman

Joey is my best friend. We welcomed our miracle baby, Analie Alexa on November 23, 2010. She was 7 lbs of cuteness and we are so thankful for her. We lost our first baby (who we symbolically named Samuel) the summer of 2009. I love being a Christian, even when it's hard. I've tried IVF. Twice. It worked. Once. That's how we got Analie. I'm always willing to talk about infertility. Diagnosis: Stage 4 Endometriosis (plus a few other bonus things) I'm live in Indiana. I enjoy reading and going for walks in the evening. I get my news from NPR. Someday I want to be a guest on Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me. I love backpacking, hiking, canoeing and survival camping. I'm a big fan of weekends. My bike's name is Thunder. I'm a youth pastor's wife. I dig cows. I don't handle stress well. I'm not good at fishing; I talk too much. Cooking and baking are my favorite. I love hanging out with my girlfriends! I'm a budding environmentalista. I love me my Joey. Texas is where we "came of age". I enjoy seeing animals and want my very own Alpaca. And Koala. And Panda. Conservation is beautiful. I'm a neat freak. I like all-natural, chemical-free, environmentally-friendly products. Green is my favorite color. Still.
