More Pictures From Back Home

My sneaky and minorly evil younger brother Andrew just emailed me a whole bunch of pictures. I already knew he was sneaky and minorly evil, but clearly he is worse than I suspected because somehow he got a bunch of pictures of the river up close that I didn’t think he was supposed to be allowed to get.

Anyway, for your edification, The Flood of 2008 part 2.

This here’s the building my Pops works in. If Brother was a part of putting up those sandbags, they’ll probably not only keep out the water, but actually repel it. He’s an enginerd after all.

The Paramount Theatre looks like it’s in a war zone. And I think they just remodeled in there, too…so this could be a mess if it had 2 feet of water standing inside…it’s such a pretty building.

This one’s real stealth on Brother’s part. Seems like he and Pops were in cahoots on this one because it appears to be taken from 380 and you’re not supposed to stop on 380 and take pictures, but clearly they drove slowly and one of them hung out the window to snap this picture.

A street beginning to flood in the downtown area. Maybe 2nd Avenue?

The water didn’t even get this high in ’93…it’s about to swamp the bridge, I cannot believe it! And Brother is SO lucky for getting this close. (Would have made for an excellent game of Pooh Sticks, don’t you agree Brother?)

More high water. He probably wasn’t supposed to be anywhere around here.

Dad said the National Guard is coming in at 2:00 today, so that should make things more interesting. Probably keep bad sorts (like my family, probably) from coming downtown and taking pictures.

About jennawoestman

Joey is my best friend. We welcomed our miracle baby, Analie Alexa on November 23, 2010. She was 7 lbs of cuteness and we are so thankful for her. We lost our first baby (who we symbolically named Samuel) the summer of 2009. I love being a Christian, even when it's hard. I've tried IVF. Twice. It worked. Once. That's how we got Analie. I'm always willing to talk about infertility. Diagnosis: Stage 4 Endometriosis (plus a few other bonus things) I'm live in Indiana. I enjoy reading and going for walks in the evening. I get my news from NPR. Someday I want to be a guest on Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me. I love backpacking, hiking, canoeing and survival camping. I'm a big fan of weekends. My bike's name is Thunder. I'm a youth pastor's wife. I dig cows. I don't handle stress well. I'm not good at fishing; I talk too much. Cooking and baking are my favorite. I love hanging out with my girlfriends! I'm a budding environmentalista. I love me my Joey. Texas is where we "came of age". I enjoy seeing animals and want my very own Alpaca. And Koala. And Panda. Conservation is beautiful. I'm a neat freak. I like all-natural, chemical-free, environmentally-friendly products. Green is my favorite color. Still.
