Meanwhile, back at the camp…

A day in the life of a Boundary Waters trip is never, ever dull.  Part of it may be boring (like for instance, if it rains all day and you’re stuck under the tarp wearing rain gear and trying to keep warm) but they are never dull.

We pitched our tent on a slight incline that we didn't realize was there until it was too late. So every morning we'd wake up and our whole tent was a disaster. This, for a neat freak like me, is CATASTROPHIC.

Mom presides over her children and generally looks pleased that they are all in the same place at the same time. So cute.

And here I am again, still trying to clean out the tent. I am frustrated.

Dad got Lasik a few months ago and he's either putting drops in his eyes or having Mom look to see what's in them. We give him a hard time about it. And I'm probably going to be in trouble for putting this picture on the internets.

The Kid is really lazy in the mornings. And it's traditional for me to wake him up in THE MOST ANNOYING WAY POSSIBLE. Here I am throwing acorns on his tent.

The acorns failed, so I had to actually get IN the tent and yell "GET UP KID YOU ARE LAZY" and bounce on his air mattress. Brother stood outside a safe distance away snapping pictures and giggling like the evil sibling he really is.

We played a lot of games. A lot of games.

I made a culinary masterpiece out of oranges, apples and grape tomatoes.

We had a great fire every night, thanks to the fact that there was no burn ban this year!

Dad got a new hammock from Cabelas, and it was fantastic!

It rained for two days off and on, so we sat around in our rain gear a lot. Mine's all black so I look like Ninja Jenna when I wear it.

Andrew hoisted this real huge rock...I can't really remember why. But I bet it made a huge splash.

Andrew baited the snapping turtles with fish carcasses, and he tied the stringer to this huge rock so the turtles wouldn't pull them out into the lake. The turtles were numerous and HUGE.

Baseball? Imaginary bats? I'm not sure what's going on here, but it's priceless.

Stephen was helpful when we put up the rain tarp

Many things were thrown into the lake. (Mostly rocks.)

Dad is enjoying his hammock. He is reading his book with gusto.

I guess the book was actually boring because every single time he started to read it he would fall asleep.

This is what he looked like from the side. And I am officially out of the will now I think.

About jennawoestman

Joey is my best friend. We welcomed our miracle baby, Analie Alexa on November 23, 2010. She was 7 lbs of cuteness and we are so thankful for her. We lost our first baby (who we symbolically named Samuel) the summer of 2009. I love being a Christian, even when it's hard. I've tried IVF. Twice. It worked. Once. That's how we got Analie. I'm always willing to talk about infertility. Diagnosis: Stage 4 Endometriosis (plus a few other bonus things) I'm live in Indiana. I enjoy reading and going for walks in the evening. I get my news from NPR. Someday I want to be a guest on Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me. I love backpacking, hiking, canoeing and survival camping. I'm a big fan of weekends. My bike's name is Thunder. I'm a youth pastor's wife. I dig cows. I don't handle stress well. I'm not good at fishing; I talk too much. Cooking and baking are my favorite. I love hanging out with my girlfriends! I'm a budding environmentalista. I love me my Joey. Texas is where we "came of age". I enjoy seeing animals and want my very own Alpaca. And Koala. And Panda. Conservation is beautiful. I'm a neat freak. I like all-natural, chemical-free, environmentally-friendly products. Green is my favorite color. Still.
