Well, we’ve officially been on the road for nearly seven hours now. We pulled off for dinner at a Love’s Travel Stop (man, those things are everywhere) and had to take advantage of the free WiFi to recount our adventures thus far.

After my grueling morning at work, Joey and Henry picked me up and we were off for our eleven hour drive to the beautiful midwest! As you may have guessed, the thing I was looking forward to most on this road trip was the Kansas Turnpike.  I was hoping that the cows would be in the cattle pen at the Turnpike for the first time ever and they were! I happened to be driving at the time while Joey and Henry were snoozing in the backseat.

“OOH OOH!” I squealed, bouncing up and down and trying to stay on the road while taking in the glorious sight.

Joey moaned and rolled over.

“Wake up, you losers!” I smacked Joey’s leg, attempting to pass my exuberance on to him.  It was not working. Henry, however, startled by the commotion, catapulted himself into the passenger seat and pawed at the window in an attempt to commune with the moos.

By this point, I had become so distracted by trying to wake Joey up that the cows were long gone, and I could only see them disappearing in my rear view mirror. I wilted.  It was at that moment that Joey finally came to.

“What’s going on?” He asked groggily.

“Nothing. You just missed the awesome cows that were actually in their pen and then I missed them trying to get you to see them,” I rambled.

“Oh,” he said, resuming his previous slumber.

So much for the moos.  But we’re almost to Iowa, and then we’ll see LOTS of them–especially in my dad’s back yard.

At least Boo stayed awake for awhile after that. He was so riled up by that point that he was jumping all over my lap. We got this picture of him before we stopped for dinner. Can’t you see how much he wants to prance in the snow?
