Well, we’ve officially been on the road for nearly seven hours now. We pulled off for dinner at a Love’s Travel Stop (man, those things are everywhere) and had to take advantage of the free WiFi to recount our adventures thus far.
After my grueling morning at work, Joey and Henry picked me up and we were off for our eleven hour drive to the beautiful midwest! As you may have guessed, the thing I was looking forward to most on this road trip was the Kansas Turnpike. I was hoping that the cows would be in the cattle pen at the Turnpike for the first time ever and they were! I happened to be driving at the time while Joey and Henry were snoozing in the backseat.
“OOH OOH!” I squealed, bouncing up and down and trying to stay on the road while taking in the glorious sight.
Joey moaned and rolled over.
“Wake up, you losers!” I smacked Joey’s leg, attempting to pass my exuberance on to him. It was not working. Henry, however, startled by the commotion, catapulted himself into the passenger seat and pawed at the window in an attempt to commune with the moos.
By this point, I had become so distracted by trying to wake Joey up that the cows were long gone, and I could only see them disappearing in my rear view mirror. I wilted. It was at that moment that Joey finally came to.
“What’s going on?” He asked groggily.
“Nothing. You just missed the awesome cows that were actually in their pen and then I missed them trying to get you to see them,” I rambled.
“Oh,” he said, resuming his previous slumber.
So much for the moos. But we’re almost to Iowa, and then we’ll see LOTS of them–especially in my dad’s back yard.
At least Boo stayed awake for awhile after that. He was so riled up by that point that he was jumping all over my lap. We got this picture of him before we stopped for dinner. Can’t you see how much he wants to prance in the snow?

Yay for coming to Iowa! I am sorry you mostly missed the cows and that Joey and Henry weren’t as excited as you were about the cows. Only a few more days til we see you!
Dad says we got cows–BIG cows! So come to Iowa.
How did you take that picture while you were driving?? I’m glad you’ve made it as far as you have!!
Dear Jenna,
This is probably the best post I’ve ever read on your blog. The creativity. The pictures. The awesomeness! Stellar!
True story, though. Love’s are everywhere. It’s kind of creepy. And the name rather creeps me out too, eh.
Now, I will see you in less than a week! Glad you made it through Kansas without dieing from boredom.
Jenna,
I always knew you were a gifted writer but man this one really tops them all, clearly! Very entertaining! I couldn’t stop laughing and enjoying this amusing post. I hope you keep popping ones out like this! Blessings!

Well what color were those cows? Did they have horns?
Later
Dad
I’m so glad for free internet. Did you have to buy anything to be able to post on this free internet?
Ummm…Uh…tell Hen to stick his tongue back in and stop daydreaming about eating cows. Ummm….I’m with Joey–he can see cows when he gets here–keep sleeping! That’s all. (As typed by Laura)
Jenna: Glad you are having a good trip. Cows along the way always make the miles go along better. Stay between the ditches and enjoy Iowa. Tell Joey’s folks “Hello” for us. — Grandpa
Jenna,
Can’t wait to see you next weekend. I talked to your mom and she said that you were arriving this evening. Grandma and grandpa always tell me to check out your blog, so I did. I LOVE all of your colorful descriptions. It makes me feel as if I am in the car with you! Fun to hear all about your adventures on yor trek to the frozen tundra. How did you take those pictures while driving? You don’t text and drive do you??? Wear your seat belt and drive the speed limit :0) Love-Michele
