Wedding Shoes July 2, 2009

About four years ago, Sister got married over Christmas.  It was two weeks before her wedding when I realized that I HAD NO SHOES TO WEAR.   Joey and I went running to the mall that very weekend (poor Joey) with the sole intent to find black shoes like my sister had requested for her wedding.

You try finding black sandals with a heel in November, because it is not an easy job.

I was getting really discouraged because I couldn’t find shoes anywhere, and our last stop was Dillards at Jordan Creek.

We walked into the shoe department and I walked up to an associate and cut right to the chase, “I need a black heeled sandal in 7 1/2.  Do you have anything like that?”

The associate looked at me…thought for a second, then said, “Let me check the back.  We may have one left over from the fall sale.”

He returned with a box that contained a black heeled sandal in 7 1/2.  “I shouldn’t be doing this, but we’re just about to send it to the manufacturer anyway.”

He opened the box and I said, “I’ll take it.  How much?”

“$2.99, ” he said.

“I’m SORRY?  What did you say?” I gasped.

“Well, we were going to return it to the manufacturer as a no sale anyway.  So I’ll give it to you for $2.99.”

“Sold,” Joey and I said in unison.

I’m wearing those shoes today.

I love getting a good deal. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten that good a deal though.

I LOVE Dillards at Jordan Creek. I got my favorite pair of heals there for $8. Not quite your $2.99, but I swear they feel more comfortable every time I think of the great deal I got on them!

Oops. Wrong usage of “heal.” Definitely meant “heel.”
