holy sweet ice cream maker BATMAN!

holy sweet ice cream maker BATMAN!

Last weekend when I was laying around in my bed, convalescing, I flipped through the Sur la Table catalog and circled a bunch of really expensive stuff just to rile Joey up.  But one item I circled, I secretly wanted.

The Cuisinart Mix It In Ice Cream Maker.

It makes soft serve!

And it has little slots for candies so you can mix them in to your ice cream!

It’s like having Marble Slab in your own house!

The thing was way out of my price range, so I forgot about it.

Until I got my Christmas money from the Grandparents Laird today.  I was sitting at the dinner table with Joey, tentatively eating my dinner, when I announced “I have tons of Christmas money,” to him.

He said something to the effect of that’s nice for you.  Because, let’s face it: the Grandparents Laird are Equal Opportunity Christmas Money Distributers.  Even though Joey is only grafted in to the family tree, I think they like him better anyways.  There is whispered talk of him getting a double portion someday because he has to put up with so much because of me (yeah yeah, your spies told me about this conversation – the jig is up) but I have yet to see if that’s true.

Anyways, I decided to use my Christmas money to buy the ice cream machine.  I am hoping it gets here before Mom, Pops and The Kid arrive this weekend because it would be awesome to test it out.

Joey ordered it for me online because I was too lazy to get off the couch.  It was 25% off (an attribute that will be close to my Grandmother Laird’s heart, for sure) and doesn’t actually come with any of the stuff in that picture, but I can’t wait to stock it up with mix-ins and cones.

We’ll probably have to have an ice cream party.

Maybe, if IVF works, we’ll have an ice cream party and announce our baby (or babies?) gender(s) using appropriately colored sprinkles.  But ugh, that sounds like a ton of work.  Scratch that.

And maybe we’ll just gain, like, 25 lbs eating copious amounts of homemade soft serve ice cream.

So, thank you Grandparents Laird for the new and super sweet ice cream machine.  We’ll have to make ice cream when you come down here…we’ll see if it’s as good as Blue Bell.  (And, if you’re good, I’ll even let you pick your own mix-ins!)

About jennawoestman

Joey is my best friend. We welcomed our miracle baby, Analie Alexa on November 23, 2010. She was 7 lbs of cuteness and we are so thankful for her. We lost our first baby (who we symbolically named Samuel) the summer of 2009. I love being a Christian, even when it's hard. I've tried IVF. Twice. It worked. Once. That's how we got Analie. I'm always willing to talk about infertility. Diagnosis: Stage 4 Endometriosis (plus a few other bonus things) I'm live in Indiana. I enjoy reading and going for walks in the evening. I get my news from NPR. Someday I want to be a guest on Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me. I love backpacking, hiking, canoeing and survival camping. I'm a big fan of weekends. My bike's name is Thunder. I'm a youth pastor's wife. I dig cows. I don't handle stress well. I'm not good at fishing; I talk too much. Cooking and baking are my favorite. I love hanging out with my girlfriends! I'm a budding environmentalista. I love me my Joey. Texas is where we "came of age". I enjoy seeing animals and want my very own Alpaca. And Koala. And Panda. Conservation is beautiful. I'm a neat freak. I like all-natural, chemical-free, environmentally-friendly products. Green is my favorite color. Still.

  1. Yes, um, speaking of the “favored one(s)”…for those of you who have read the “Grandparents Laird’s” Christmas letter, let’s just re-visit the thought of FAVORITES. Who, would you gather after reading “the Christmas letter”, were the favorites in the family? Hmmm. Let me see…I am guessing, after reading the letter, that is would be anyone with the word “grand” or “great-grand” in their name. Seeing that my precious angels were among the chosen ones, I am slightly appeased. However, tread lightly on the “chosen one” jabs because I did not see much mention of the off-spring #1 or off-spring #2 ,therefore, I would have to conclude that all the grands and great-grands are the favs.

Hey Dougie, let’s go get our own mix-ins :-)

Much love from freezing cold Indy :-)
