The New One

The New One

We got a new alarm clock.  After all the helpful suggestions, we settled on a dual-alarm clock radio with three different wake-up tone options.  Variety is the spice of life, yes?

So there we were, standing in Alarm Clock Land at Target (yes, there is such a place and it’s nowhere near as cool as, like, Neverland) and I was going for the cheapest dual-alarm one I could find.  Joey, naturally, was looking for the next best one.  He found this fairly modern one for $5 more than the one I wanted.

“But it looks cool,” he said.

I bowed to his artsy taste.

Joey dug around to find the box on the shelf and yelled, “LOOK!  It’s $5 off, so it’s the same price as the one you wanted.”

Win-win.  Gotta love a sale.

Joey quite literally tore the box apart when we got home, despite my “um, what if we need to return this?” protests.  I guess the box was really hard to open.  He set it up on the far dresser, so we both have to get up if we want to turn it off, and set us each an alarm.

He is Alarm #1 and I am Alarm #2.

Incidentally, the first year he did our taxes after we got married, he somehow put me as Head of Household on our forms, and we can’t change it.  Ever.  So I try to let him be #1 on everything else as much as possible to make up for the fact that the government thinks I’m our Head of Household.  But that was really all unrelated to the alarm clock business.

The alarm is set for very, very early tomorrow.  Like 5:30 early.

MY PARENTS ARE COMING! AND SO IS THE KID!  It’ll be so great.  Anyway, I want to get a jump on the day before they arrive.  Tonight we spent a lot of money stocking up toilet paper and bananas (not for me, obviously) and yogurt, so we are totally set for the weekend.

Don’t worry, we bought other things than just toilet paper, bananas and yogurt.  (Those three alone would not make for such a fun weekend.)

I’m kind of paranoid the new alarm clock won’t work.  I think I’ll set my cell phone as backup.

About jennawoestman

Joey is my best friend. We welcomed our miracle baby, Analie Alexa on November 23, 2010. She was 7 lbs of cuteness and we are so thankful for her. We lost our first baby (who we symbolically named Samuel) the summer of 2009. I love being a Christian, even when it's hard. I've tried IVF. Twice. It worked. Once. That's how we got Analie. I'm always willing to talk about infertility. Diagnosis: Stage 4 Endometriosis (plus a few other bonus things) I'm live in Indiana. I enjoy reading and going for walks in the evening. I get my news from NPR. Someday I want to be a guest on Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me. I love backpacking, hiking, canoeing and survival camping. I'm a big fan of weekends. My bike's name is Thunder. I'm a youth pastor's wife. I dig cows. I don't handle stress well. I'm not good at fishing; I talk too much. Cooking and baking are my favorite. I love hanging out with my girlfriends! I'm a budding environmentalista. I love me my Joey. Texas is where we "came of age". I enjoy seeing animals and want my very own Alpaca. And Koala. And Panda. Conservation is beautiful. I'm a neat freak. I like all-natural, chemical-free, environmentally-friendly products. Green is my favorite color. Still.

  1. You know, if you think about it, bananas, yogurt, and toilet paper is pretty much all you need to live. Got your inputs and outputs covered!
